This is a poster design for the play “Protest” by Theatre Erindale. The play is mainly inspired by student protests in the 1960s. When designing the poster, we were asked to photograph an everyday object, and alter the original photograph to create the background of the poster. The most challenging part was taken everyday objects and turn them into imageries that reflect conflicts. I chose a pen as my object because I felt that sometimes words can be powerful in either creating and calming conflicts. By altering the colours, adding halftones to the photograph, and slicing the type into half, I hope to bring a sense of mystery and tension.
